I did a Granite Slab farming at Senerity Temple last time with my Ele (got deleted). I got 1 ruby there and 2 black dye.

I had a sapphire drop four days ago when I was farming charcoal off of fire imps.

That's two sapphires and one ruby in 3.5mil XP solo farmed on my Monk.

I just got a sapphire off of a Fire Imp right outside of Lion's Arch 2 days ago. First time I've ever seen a gem drop in the game, and I've been playing since it came out. ^_^

I think I'm gonna keep farming there, maybe save up a few, and sell em high when they have big demand.

I've only ever gotten one ruby, back when my first character went post searing, off of an elemental outside of Ascalon. I sold it at (the appropriate) merchants along with a black dye I had gotten in presearing and felt like a king for a few weeks. I am going to try farming the ghosts in nolani just as an experiement to see how many it takes to get an ecto, lol.

did 6 dry runs in UW a couple nights ago only thing that dropped was gold spiked axe and a sapphire of aatxe....
when I first started playing GW one dropped in pre-sear but had no idea what is was for and sold it to a merchant *bonk*

I got a black dye drop yesterday from a primary quest or mission. I think it was in the ice cavern where you do a bonus where you kill that dragon thing. It's on the way to the Gates of Kryta.

I think I remember getting a saphire early in the game, but I'm not sure. If I did, I just sold it to a merchant. This is my first time through the game.

I wonder if Arenanet rewards gamers who don't farm that much. I arrived at Borliss Pass, then joined groups and zipped all the way to the Gates of Kryta. That's when I got a black dye drop on the way.

rubies and sapphires have the probability of dropping anywhere* in the game.
if u read the gw guide, then ull see that gargoyles have the highest chance of dropping both items.

I speculate that they drop everywhere, I have never seen one, but i have heard of them being dropped in Pre-Searing. They are, however, extremely rare.

i don't think they are that rare anymore. i have been seeing more drop every day.

maybe they increased the drop rate, in anticipation of factions?

They dropped everywhere. I had 2 rubies and 1 sapphire from presearing.
